Tim made a comment in the last post about how I need to start posting to Flickr. I meant to respond to him and tell him the reasons I wasn’t going to post to Flickr, and please did he have any other suggestions for web photo-sharing software. I was leaning heavily towards a host-it-yourself photo solution; that’s always how I’ve done it. However, F-spot has totally spoiled me with tags, and I couldn’t find any of those types that handled tagging.
So I gave the Flickr export a try, and I must say I’m impressed. It was about three clicks to set it up in the first place thanks to its integration with the browser. It already knew that I had a Flickr account, and I was already logged in. After that it’s about two clicks to send any of your photos to Flickr, tagged and everything. Flickr’s 20 MB per month limit is really not a big deal if you resize everything to 400 before you upload.
Anyhow, now I’m going to start the long upload process. Take a look.
Update: This post has been deemed to technical. (Not as in, “too l33t for j00.” It’s more of a “why would you care” issue.) A revised version follows.
Hey guys. I got on Flickr yesterday. It’s pretty rad. Also, I took pictures of Lem at Mongolian BBQ. Awesome.
