Well, it’s official. When you actually get to see the baby when you have your first sonogram, you can no longer fool yourself into believing that you’ve made the whole pregnancy thing up in your head. On August 3rd, Phil and I got our first glimpses of our son, Noah. It was absolutely incredible. We could see him moving around and they even zoomed in so we could watch his heart beating. It was one of those moments that you just know you’ll cherish forever.

Everything on the ultrasound appeared great. They confirmed that our due date was correct (around December 15), although I was a tad bit hoping that it was off so he would be due earlier. I’m now extremely eager for him to come. It’s going to be hard to wait the next 17 weeks before we can hold him.
The name we’ve chosen is Noah Augustine Hagelberg. However, we are still working on a second middle name since Phil thinks there is a compelling case to be made for having his initials spell NOAH as well. However, there aren’t that many good “O” names. We originally really liked Obadiah but then his name would be extremely long. Maybe, Obed. And, just before anyone else suggests it - we have completely ruled out Osama.
We are having fun registering for baby things for him. We are hoping to decorate his nursery with a Nautical Theme - sailboats, anchors, captain’s wheels, lighthouses, etc.

Yay! Noah is a great name. As for the “O” middle name, that’s a tough one. There aren’t a lot of “O” names, it’s true. Owen is alright, and it’s short, but it’s not a Biblical name or anything. Then there’s always Osvaldo. :-)
Oliver!
I lied. You have not heard the last of my brilliant suggestions…
O’shea? too leprechaun-y?
Ori? means my light in hebrew.
Ovid? nah- he might end up with an egg-shaped head.
I’m likin’ Owen.
hey… so I was checking out that baby names chart thing that you posted a long time ago: http://www.babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html
..and aparently the name Noah has skyrocketed in popularity recently.. ranked number 15 for baby boys in 2006.
also, my vote is for Owen… Not really a big fan of Obed…..
Man, look at that chin! Noah has a good chin.
As for the “O” go with Ogre.
Ostragoth? Olivaceous? Opie? Oprah? Orpah?
Oliver is a good Dickens name like Pip’s is.
Otter? Ophelia? Ochre? Orion? Oboe? Oh?
Ow?
O’s a tough one.
Wow. Such a bevy of excellent suggestions! Orion was in the running, but the backstory is a bit dodgy. Oberon has also been ruled out since the færie connotations just aren’t what they used to be.
We’ll come up with something!
Phil,
Congrats again on your new status of Parents. I couldn’t figure out on your web how to send you an email direct so I figured I’d post and hopefully you can send me an email, bj.wisdom@gmail.com. I’ve got some questions for you and I won’t clog up your blog.
BJ
Orestes! That’s my vote. :)
